(2) | Point (b) of Article 11 of the Agreement provides that the Agreement is concluded for a period of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement between the Parties. By Decision 2009/501/EC of the Council (4), the Agreement was renewed for a further period of 5 years and is due to expire on 17 May 2015. |
(3) | The Parties to the Agreement consider that a rapid renewal of the Agreement would be in their mutual interest. |
(4) | The content of the renewed Agreement should be identical to the content of the Agreement. |
(5) | As a consequence of the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon on 1 December 2009, the European Union has replaced and succeeded the European Community. |
(6) | The renewal of the Agreement should be approved on behalf of the Union, |
