LI President: Recognise the National Coalition of the Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces! - Main contents
LI President calls on the entire international community to recognise the National Coalition of the Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces as the sole legitimate representative of the Syrian people, following the steps of France, Turkey, UK and number of Gulf States.
"The National Coaltion needs empowerment to develop a plan for building a strong post-conflict Syria based on democracy and unity. The international community must act quickly, not allowing the extremist Islamist groups from hijacking the Syrian democratic revolution", said LI President Hans van Baalen MEP.
Last weekend different Syrian opposition groups agreed on uniting their forces into the "Syrian National Coalition of Opposition and Revolutionary Forces", receiving positive reaction from almost all opposition people inside and outside Syria. Its elected leadership is diverse and widely respected, giving the coalition the necessary legitimisation.
