In de Georgische pers is er veel aandacht voor het bezoek dat Han (Mr Brook!) brengt aan de hoofdstad van Georgië, Tblisi. Tijdens zijn eerste dag had hij onder meer gesprekken met de oppositie, David Darchiashvilli (partij president Saakashvilli) en de Nederlandse ambassadeur Peter Langenberg (foto boven), maar ook met de liberale republikeinse zusterpartij.

CAUCASUS PRESS. 01-07-13: THE NETHERLANDS TO ALLOCATE ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO GEORGIA

The Netherlands intends to allocate additional funds to Georgia to promote the development of democracy, chairman of the Parliamentary Defence Committee of the Netherlands, Ten Brook told journalists in Tbilisi.

He said the Dutch Parliament is currently working on its foreign policy budget and intends to become acquainted with the situation in Georgia to create a complete view of the country.

"I really want to get acquainted with the situation in Georgia after the democratic parliamentary elections held on Oct.1," Brook said.

He said that a peaceful transfer of power occurred in Georgia, which "can only be welcomed".

Brook will stay in Georgia for three days meeting with senior representatives of the Parliament and the government of Georgia.

CAUCASUS PRESS. 01-07-13. Minister of Defense Irakli Alasania discussed ongoing reforms of Georgia with the chairperson of the parliamentary defense committee of the Netherlands Ten Brook.

The meeting was held behind closed doors and lasted about an hour.

Alasania told journalists that they spoke about the reforms carried out by the Georgian Ministry of Defense.

"The main issue discussed during the meeting was Georgia's accession to Euro-Atlantic space, which is supported by the Netherlands. We also discussed the reforms planned in the Ministry and the activities of Georgia to enter Euro-Atlantic space", Alasania said.

Ten Brook said he listened to the information about reforms Georgia's ministry carries out. He said that it's important that the international commonwealth is informed about Georgia's military reforms and achievements.

TBILISI CAUCASUS PRESS 08-01-13: TEN BROOK SUPPORTS CONTINUATION OF REFORMS AND CO-HABITATION PROCESS

Today, Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Alasania has hosted Chairman of the Defence Committee of the Dutch Parliament Ten Brook. The sides discussed continuation of reforms and co-habitation process.

The Chairman of the Defence Committee of the Dutch Parliament positively assessed the meeting with Georgian Defence Minister and stimulated him to go on the scheduled reforms. "I am quite impressed with the results what so far achieved at the Defence Ministry. It's extremely important for the international community to know what Georgia is doing in this respect. Keep the military as an independent, non-politicized entity - I think this is confidence building for the international community", underlined Ten Brook.

Ten Brook, chairperson of the parliamentary defense committee of the Netherlands, has met with David Darchishvili MP of minority and discussed the situation in Georgia and participation of Georgian military in the ISAF.

The meeting was held at Tbilisi Marriott hotel in Tbilisi and lasted for an hour. It was attended by Ambassador of the Netherlands in Georgia Peter Langerberg.
