Liberal International: Enhancing Global Trade

At the recent Liberal International Congress in Rotterdam, hosted by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the VVD, a new Bureau of Liberal International was elected. Andorra's former Foreign Minister Juli Minoves i Triquell was elected the new President of Liberal International. He succeeds Dutch Liberal MEP Hans van Baalen, who was appointed President of Honour.

In the picture from right to left you can see former Foreign Minister of Thailand, Mr Kasit Piromya; Dr Dzhevdet Chakarov MP (Bulgaria); Former German Federal Commissioner for Human Rights, Markus Löning; Robert Woodthorpe-Browne MBE (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland); Cecilia Wikstrom MEP (Sweden); LI President of Honour, Hans van Baalen MEP (Netherlands); LI president, Dr Juli Minoves from Andorra; Baroness Kishwer Falkner from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Mr Shih-Chung Liu from Taiwan.

The central debate of the Congress focussed on how to enhance global trade, while delegates also adopted the World Today Resolution which offers a liberal perspective on world events and is a document and record of global significance.
