On May 28th 2015, the Montesquieu Institute and Filmhuis Den Haag runned the Oscar-winning movie Citizenfour by director Laura Poitras. The film is about the NSA spying scandal.

In 2013 former CIA-analist Edward Snowden revealed that western governments are collecting internet and telephone records of millions of people. The general public is expressing it discontent. At the same time governments are worrying about more leaks and the deteriorating safety of their citizens.

After the movie was shown journalist Kristel van Teeffelen and professor of Software Security and Correctness Bart Jacobs i discussed the movie and the question of what the government can do to protect citizens privacy.
