Report launch of Boris Nemtsov's "Putin. War" - Main contents
Tuesday 16 June 2015 from 10:00 to 11:30: Report launch of Boris Nemtsov's "Putin. War" and of the Atlantic Council's "Hiding in Plain Sight: Putin’s War in Ukraine"
Activists of the Russian civil society demonstrated remarkable courage when they decided to complete the work started by Boris Nemtsov, the Russian opposition leader murdered in February on a bridge near the Kremlin walls. Boris Nemtsov's report "Putin. War" documents, from publicly available resources, the involvement of Russian soldiers in the war on the territory of Ukraine - and puts in black and white facts which are staunchly denied by Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin propaganda machine.
As Guy Verhofstadt pointed out, the report is "an indication that the Russian society still has individuals and activists ready to stand up to the truth. Take risks and hold the regime accountable. Boris Nemtsov is dead but the spirit of a free democratic Russia is still alive".
Ilya Yashin, the co-editor of the "Putin. War" report is coming to Brussels together with authors of the Atlantic Council document "Hiding in Plain Sight: Putin's War in Ukraine" who used a different method to arrive at the same conclusion: the war in Ukraine is a Kremlin-manufactured conflict, design to establish control over Ukraine.
Interpretation will be provided in Russian and English. The event will be livestreamed.
