Field visit to Somalia and Kenya (20-22 January 2016) - Main contents
The Horn of Africa is an EU Humanitarian priority.
Long term displacement is not only a humanitarian challenge. It is a development issue. It is a political issue. We need to engage with host communities and governments. To address the root causes of forced displacement.People have been in refugeee camps for generations. Children are born here. As refugees! They do not need only food and shelter. They need work. They need education. They want back their dignity. They want hopeful prospects for their children. So that tomorrow is better than today.
Our humanitarian aid will help provide life-saving assistance to the most vulnerable in the Horn of Africa. It will respond to needs in the areas of food assistance, health, clean water, sanitation, shelter, protection and education in emergencies projects.
Internally displaced people need dignity and hopeful prospects for their children. No lost generation.
