Activity report: The first meeting of the group took place on 24 October 2012. The agenda, documents and summary minutes of that meeting and any following meetings are published in the Public Documents Repository of the Directorate General "Taxation and Customs Union".
Selection procedure: On 5 July 2016, the Commission adopted Decision C(2016) 4098 amending Decision 2012/C 188/02 with regard to the duration of the mandate of the members of the VAT Expert Group, and a call for applications for the selection of members and observers in the VAT Expert group was published. On 29 September 2016, the Director-General for Taxation and Customs Union appointed the members and observers to the VAT Expert Group for a mandate of 3 years starting on 1 October 2016. On 2 October 2019, the Director-General for Taxation and Customs Union appointed the members to the VAT Expert Group for a mandate of 3 years starting on 1 October 2019. On 5 July 2022, a new call for applications for the renewal of membership has been launched. The deadline to send applications is 5 August 2022. On 12 September 2022, the Director-General for Taxation and Customs Union appointed the members to the VAT Expert Group for a mandate of 3 years starting on 1 October 2022.
