International Women's Day is a day to celebrate women's rights, but it is also a good moment to remind ourselves that these rights cannot be taken for granted. Unfortunately, in Europe we witness increasing attacks on these rights by the anti-choice movement.

In 't Veld featured in a documentary this week, which focuses on the renewed force of the anti-choice movement in Europe. The documentary highlights the networks and actors it consists of and their attempts to undermine rights and freedoms. A particular case covered in the documentary concerns their coordinated campaigns against safe and legal abortions in Europe.

In 't Veld: "They are not pro-life, they are anti-choice. I am pro-life but also pro-choice. They use words like dignity, justice, peace, liberty, life, family, it sounds great: peace, love and happiness. But it is not at all like that, they are strongly anti-choice, and often anti-pluralist and anti-democratic even."
