The EU cohesion policy budget must remain large enough after 2020 to fund EU investments in regional development projects that are capable of meeting current and future challenges.

An overwhelming result in the plenary vote in Strasbourg today. During the crisis cohesion policy delivered. In many Member States the regional funds were the only public funding, after the severe cuts in the national budgets

Now we are in the next phase: investments in knowledge and innovation will be in the forefront. We directly support the goals for a smarter, greener and more competitive Europe with growth and jobs.

The support of the members in the European Parliament shows the commitment to the fact that no region should be excluded from the post 2020 funding. This is the Parliaments red line in the upcoming debates with the Council and Commission.
