Debate: 10 years after the banking crisis - what has actually changed? - Main contents
Ten years ago, in September 2008, the banking crisis started. Politicians tried to minimise the damage and turn the tide. Decisions were made without knowledge and consent of representatives and citizens. How important is transparancy in times of crisis? Is transparancy achievable when it comes to complex economical topics that have to be decided about under pressure?
Documentary 'On day eight' looks back at the events of September 2008. What has changed since then?
Jeroen Dijsselbloem (former Minister of Finance and Eurogroup President), Nout Wellink (former President of the Dutch National Bank), Henriëtte Prast (member of the Senate) and Sandra Phlippen (economist and columnist) participated in the debate, which was led by Kees Boonman. The debate took place on Wednesday 5 September 2018.
