The European Parliament is the EU's law-making body. It is directly elected by EU voters every 5 years.
What does the Parliament do?
The Parliament has 3 main roles:
Legislative

-Passing EU laws, together with the Council of the EU, based on European Commission proposals
The Parlimentary Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs is responsible for:

1.The economic and monetary policies of the Union, the functioning of Economic and Monetary Union and the European monetary and financial system (including relations with the relevant institutions or organisations)
This "Special Committee on Financial Crimes, Tax Evansion and Tax Avoidance" was set up by the European Parliament in March 2018. It continues the work of previous special committees TAXE, TAX2 and PANA.
