THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

Having regard to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, amending and repealing Directives 67/548/EEC and 1999/45/EC, and amending

Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 1 , and in particular Article 53(1) thereof,

Whereas:

  • (1)
Tables 3.1 and 3.2 of Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 contain the list of harmonised classification and labelling of hazardous substances but only in English for all language versions of that Regulation.
  • (2)
On 2 December 2008 2 the Commission committed itself to ensure that the chemical

names corresponding to the International Chemical Identifications in Tables 3.1 and 3.2 of Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 are published in the same language as the language versions in which that Regulation has been published.

  • (3)
Table 3.1 of Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 has been amended several times to reflect technical and scientific progress, by adding, deleting or modifying substances or their classification To take account of those changes and to ensure that all the chemical names in Table 3.1 of Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 are in the same language as the language versions in which that Regulation has been published, Table 3.1 needs to be replaced partially.

1 OJ L 353 31.12.2008 p. 1.
